Options for Louvred Roofs
Sitting out on a patio or verandah on a nice day is a pleasant way to spend time, but when the weather changes, that pleasant feeling quickly melts away. Whether there's harsh afternoon sun or rain, it's no fun to sit out where you're only going to end up sweaty or drenched in rain. Covering the patio or verandah is the solution, but then you don't get to sit in pleasantly warm sunlight, either. Louvred roofs are what you want to get if you want the option of sitting out in the sun or shade. These roofs come with a number of options that make using them even easier.
A Rain Sensor
Louvred roofs usually have a switch that you use to rotate the louvres themselves, and the rotation can be done relatively quickly. However, if you've gone inside for a moment and it starts to drizzle while you're gone, your verandah can end up with a layer of rain all over it before you get back. This is why a number of louvred roof systems have rain sensors that close the louvres when the sensors detect water on top of the structure. This is very handy to have.
Retractable Louvres
Some louvred roof systems have retractable louvres, meaning you can have the louvres pulled up to one side of the roof frame. This is a wonderful feature to have if you like sitting out on cool mornings with some sun and don't want to drag your patio furniture onto your lawn. The louvres can be retracted partway, too, so you can customise how much light the verandah or patio gets. It's a good feature for households where some members like sitting in direct light while others want shade.
Different Roof Angles
The typical louvred roof you see in ads is a flat roof over a square or rectangular area. You can get these roofs in different configurations and angles. For example, you can have A-frame roofs with louvres on both sides, roofs that are angled down from where the louvred roof meets the edge of your house's roof, and more. Some companies will even customise a roof for you if you want a unique configuration, although what they can do is limited by building codes and cost. Louvred roofs form a very nice way to keep your verandah or patio cool and dry.
