An increasing number of newlywed couples are deciding to be adventurous when it comes to the establishment of their new home. They don't want to choose from some 'cookie cutter' property that looks just like all the others in a typical suburban estate. Rather, they want to build a home from scratch on a virgin plot of land, so that they can truly own the creation and live life as they want to. While the two of them will be the visionaries involved in putting it all together, they will nevertheless need a solid team of people working with them to bring this project across the line. Who are the key members of this team?
Beginning the Process
Ultimately, the two newlyweds will need to establish boundaries and often this will relate to just how much money or other resources they have, or how much they will be able to generate to fund the project. Once those limits have been set, they can then bring in the team members.

While it is certainly possible to search for potential land by yourself, real estate agents may be the inaugural members of the team, who will help you to purchase the parcel of land in association with the next members, the lenders. Next, you will need to bring in designers and architects that will help to create the vision in accordance with local building codes and realistic expectations. From time to time, various engineers will need to pass through and give their input in relation to electricity, plumbing and safety. They can often reset expectations in relation to the architects and designers, as they represent two sides of the "left brain/right brain" equation.
Homebuilders
Enter the heavyweights in the form of contractors and builders. They will take plans and bring them to life and will ensure that everything moves ahead on time. They will also bring in specialty contractors for various aspects, such as HVAC installation or roofing.
Inspectors
Finally, you will see the regulators in the form of building inspectors. They will have signed off on the original plans, but will be back to ensure that you are still conforming with codes and local laws, all the way to the end of the build.
